The same sandbank doing it’s thing back in May 2004…

This little right hand bank has been giving up the goods almost every single day for the past month or so - I literally haven’t surfed any other spot. The conditions have been perfect - 2-5ft swell most days, sunny, light westerlies until about 11am, no more than 5 people out - and the bank has been serving up dredging barrels or ball-tearing walls of varying intensity depending on the swell direction and tide. I reckon I’ve had more good barrels out there in the past week than in the entire last year combined and finally got around to taking some pics instead of racing straight out. More please…

Pirate Dane at Bella’s birthday party.

Theo in his babysitting spot on my desk while I’m working.

Otto with some forest “takeaway” - a whole kangaroo leg he found somewhere and brought home.
April and May are by far the best months of the year down here - endless crisp sunny days, light offshore winds and consistent swell. I’d happily forego all other months of the year for it to stay like this…

The view from Scott & Zora’s on Bundle Hill over looking Brush Island and Sandmines.

Sunrise and Moonset over the mountain.
Dane and Jarrah got to spend a whole afternoon in Avalon tearing the house apart and discussing the subtler plot lines of Thomas the Tank Engine…
