Photosynth

Microsoft made a good purchase with this technology. Just a bummer it’s Windows only…

Lunar Eclipse

What a brilliant celestial event this was. I made it down to Manly Beach on a balmy spring evening with perfect clear skies to watch most phases of the eclipse, along with hundreds or other people doing the same thing. As the moon was quite low in the sky it was much more dramatic than the same event back in July 2000. Once the moon is fully eclipsed, it takes on an amazing spherical quality and just looks like a ball suspended in the sky. Check out this great sequence of photos from the SMH. Only 5 years until the next one!

Still Life

Stephanie Carrick put me onto these awesome high speed photos of porcelain smashing by Martin Klimas. I wonder how many he goes through to get the right shot?

Imitation or Flattery?

This is hilarious. A company called Switch IT “appropriated” (OK… blatantly copied) various design elements for their client from the ABC TV site design I worked on recently - right down to cutting and pasting the javascript code line for line.

I can imagine the client briefing now - Client: “We really like that new ABC site - can you do something like that?” Agency: “Um… sure! Just give us half an hour”. Did they seriously think no one would notice?

“I have a dream”

Greatest speech of the 20th century? Amazing to watch the whole thing in one go…

I sought this out after hearing Obama Barrack talk publicly. I just wonder how far the powers that be will let him rise?
