A heavy metal band crewed by frustrated graphic designers? Too funny.

Freshly Mixed

I treated myself to a magic little box called an Audio Kontrol 1 from Native instruments recently. It takes a USB signal out and converts it into multiple audio tracks, which when coupled with their Traktor software means you can mix up to 4 individual MP3 tracks at once with a whole arsenal of effects. It’s meant having a whole new way access into a few billion gigs of music laying dormant in hard drives.

My first recorded mix attempt of some newish deep house and tech is here (50Mb AAC). It’s even led to me buying music again from Beatport and iTunes both of whom have huge collections.

The amazing thing they’ve done is democratise music again. Back in the day if you missed out on a track at the record shop, that was it unless you did some major searching. Now you can download pretty much any classic tune.

Now to digitise all the old vinyl…

Sun!

Almost two weeks of persistent rain broke today with some beautiful sunshine. All of the creeks and dams are bulging, all of the lakes are about to flood low lying properties, and our intermittent waterfall is the best it’s looked in years.

Waterfall

No.3

The third storm in 2 weeks just passed by, and luckily spun off out to sea before it could cause any serious damage. If it had touched down they were predicting category 2 cyclone strength winds of 125-150kmh. Glad we missed that one! The swell was a solid 10 > 12ft plus, but not clean enough anywhere to really hold it. This set almost looks surfable! Should be some juice left in it over the next few days.
