Alternative Fuels Comparison
Interesting graphic from the New York Times showing alternative fuel total emission comparisons. Interesting to see how well Biodiesel stacks up.

Another chance for Dane & Jakey to hang out, play chasings, be pirates and eat all of the fish and chips.

Spent the weekend with Dane in the Hunter Valley, the highlight being our horse “race” on Sunday morning, which Dane had been planning for days in advance. “We both won” according to Dane.

With the roof on, it’s been full steam ahead getting into the cladding last week. We’d decided to use the leftover colourbond for the base, with blueboard fibre cement above. I’d thought this would save us quite a bit of cash, but once we’ve factored the flashing and fiddling around to get everything straight it won’t really do so - but it will look good and have a solid fire protection rating. We’ve managed to avoid having any significant material wastage, and have used a good proportion of the original materials.
We also got the electricals wired up, and will have Cat5E ethernet cabling to every room for gigabit network speeds, plus speaker cabling around the house and on the deck. All light fittings will be compact fluorescent, as there’s now a huge range of bulbs and sizes to choose from.

This is one of the most awesome photos of the universe I’ve seen to date - a huge dark matter ring around a cluster of galaxies (The elongated bright spots).
